This quick and easy to make jam is so delicious and requires just a handful of ingredients. It is delicious on toast, in porridge and even in desserts and no bake snacks such as these Chocolate Peanut Butter and Jam Cups.

I have tried a few different versions of this including strawberry, raspberry, blueberry and mixed berry and I am confident that any version of berry would work in this jam recipe. Just remember to slice off any leaves that may be part of the berries. I intend to try it with plums and peaches too so will update you once I know if the method is the same!

This is a ‘healthier’ alternative to shop bought jams as it contains less refined sugar and no artificial preservatives like many do. Making this recipe is a great way to use up any berries you have in that need using up and the jam will last for up to five days in a jar in the fridge.

  • 2 large handfuls berries
  • 3 tbsp maple syrup
  • 3 tbsp water
  • 3 - 2 tbsp chia seeds
  • squeeze of lemon juice

  1. Roughly chop the berries, (removing any leaves), and add to a small saucepan
  2. Add the water, maple syrup and lemon juice and cook over a moderate heat until the liquid starts to boil
  3. Reduce to simmer and allow to cook for ten minutes, or until the liquid starts to reduce
  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat and set aside to cool
  5. Use the back of a fork or a potato masher to squash the berries until they are mushy in consistency
  6. Stir in the chia seeds and leave the jam to set for another ten minutes
